Newborn Photos with siblings and family pets

Welcoming a baby into the family is one of life’s most precious gifts. As newborn photographers, our passion lies in preserving those fleeting first weeks of life.  From the delicate features to the sweet yawns, these are the moments that parents long to remember forever. But there is more to newborn photography than just capturing the baby. Incorporating siblings and pets into your photoshoot is the perfect way to preserve the authentic story of your family’s love.

Why Capture Family Portraits for your Newborn Session?

Capturing True Family Dynamics

Your newborn session is a celebration of your family as it grows and changes. We love to capture sweet family portraits that include siblings and the furry companions who have been eagerly awaiting their new best friend. We strive to showcase those tender first interactions. Whether it’s a gentle kiss on baby’s forehead, a cozy snuggle, or simply relaxing together on the couch. These moments reflect the bond that’s forming right before your eyes.

Preserving Precious Memories

Imagine sharing photos with your little one years from now. Not just pictures of themselves as a newborn, but surrounded by the siblings and pets who adored them from the very first day. These portraits represent not only how your family looked during this special time, but how it felt to be together in those fleeting early days. As your child grows, these memories will serve as a beautiful reminder of how deeply they were loved from the start. These photos will become priceless keepsakes, weaving together the threads of your family’s story. One day, your child may even pass down these photos down to their own children, continuing the legacy of love and connection through generations.

Photographing Siblings With a Newborn

1. Relaxed and Fun Vibes

Children thrive in a playful, low-pressure environment. We recommend having siblings well‐rested and fed before the appointment. Younger children especially can get fussy if it’s close to nap or mealtime. During sibling poses, we encourage natural interactions rather than stiff poses. Intimate snuggles, whispering secrets, gently touching baby’s toes, or smelling baby’s hair are perfect prompts for genuine smiles and tender connections. These unscripted moments often become family favorites.

2. Safety is the Utmost Priority

Newborns are fragile, so our priority is to ensure that siblings are positioned safely. Instead of having young children hold the baby unsupported, we often prop the sides with a pillow, place the baby in a cozy basket, or lay baby in the middle of the bed for cuddles. Always have an adult “spotter” nearby—someone who can intervene if a pet or child changes positions abruptly. This ensures everyone is comfortable and safe.

3. Capturing Individual Bonds

We encourage you to speak to older children about the session beforehand.  Discuss what to expect, how the baby will be handled, how they can help. This helps reduce anxiety, and gives them the responsibility that they’re craving in these early weeks. Each sibling has a unique relationship with the new baby. An older sibling’s protective embrace, big brother’s curious gaze, or big sister’s prideful smile. These emotions bring out the individuality of each connection in meaningful family portraits.

Including Pets in Your Newborn Session

1. Planning Ahead

If you’d like your pet to be part of the session, please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.  We recommend a walk or playtime before the photo session will turn them out, so they’re not full of boundless energy.  We will recommend poses and setups to include your furry friend naturally, without overwhelming the baby. A simple collar, bandana, or nothing extra is usually best so they don’t steal attention from the baby.

2. Familiar Settings

Pets feel most comfortable in familiar surroundings. Im-home newborn sessions are ideal for including pets, so they can wander in and out of the photos at their own pace. This keeps things stress-free for both pets and parents. Allow pets to get used to being close to baby (always while supervised) before the day of your baby photoshoot. We also recommend having favorite treats on hand to use for bribery while taking photos.

A couple sits on a bed in a bright, cozy nursery with their baby and small dog during a family lifestyle photoshoot with newborn. The room features a crib, white furniture, neutral decor, and large windows filled with natural light.

3. Calm & Safe Environment

We’ll ensure that baby is positioned securely and that pets are calm before introducing them into the concept. Sometimes the most heartwarming photos come from a dog gently sniffing the baby or a cat lounging beside the crib. Safety is the priority, so we may have to create a composite in post processing if we cannot have baby and pet in close proximity.

The Importance of Family Photos

As newborn photographers, we understand that sessions involving older siblings and pets can feel overwhelming. Rest assured that we will do our best to create a relaxed environment with plenty of time for breaks, snacks, diaper changes, and cuddles. Our goal is always to capture your family in its truest form, with genuine emotions and natural interactions.

Newborn photos aren’t just about documenting your baby’s first weeks. They’re about celebrating the essence of your family. By including siblings and pets, we will create a portrait gallery that tells a complete, authentic story of love, connection, and belonging.

A couple sits on a white bed holding their newborn, smiling at each other in this heartwarming family portrait with newborn and a pet. At the foot of the bed, a fluffy white dog looks at the camera as soft natural light fills the bright room.

These moments pass so quickly. One day, you’ll look back at these photographs and experience the warmth of those early days all over again. Including siblings and pets may require more planning, more flexibility, and a little more patience — but the results are deeply rewarding. These are the images you’ll treasure, the ones that make you smile years from now.

Maternity Photography for Second-Time Moms: Capturing the Journey Differently

Embracing a New Chapter

Pregnancy is a big chapter in your life, but the second time around just feels different. Many moms experience a renewed sense of calm, already knowing what to expect from their first pregnancy. You trust your instincts and have a chance to appreciate the little things: the stolen naps, the quiet moments, the time being present. You realize what truly matters during these nine months of pregnancy. Instead of focusing on perfectly folded onesies and the latest gadgets, you’ll pay more attention to the special connection developing between you and your baby. That being said, second pregnancies can still come with its own kind of stress. Guilt sneaks in as you try to split up your time, love, and attention between your firstborn and newborn on the way. You may even grieve the final days of your firstborn being your only child, knowing that things will change soon. You’ll begin to realize that not everything has to be perfect, and that there is joy in watching your children bond before they’ve even met. Sure, this time is different… but the love just keeps growing.

Including the Firstborn: Making Siblings Part of the Story

One of the sweetest parts of second-time maternity portraits is including siblings in the shoot. Letting your older child bring a gift for the baby makes the photos more meaningful. Having them “help” with the shoot by holding a sign or touching your belly shows the genuine connection they already have with the baby. This helps capture natural interactions, showcasing candid moments between you and your little one. The hugs, curious looks, even shyness toward mom’s belly adds an adorable element to your maternity photoshoot. Embracing imperfections makes it more real with happy tears, giggles, and smiles. Small touches like matching outfits or unique props add to the excitement. At the end of the day, it’s about documenting the love that’s already growing before baby even arrives.

Choosing Meaningful Styles for Your Second Maternity Shoot

As a maternity photographer, helping expectant mothers select meaningful styles for their second maternity shoot is all about capturing the unique beauty of your family’s evolving story. From flowing dresses to casual looks, the right wardrobe adds depth and authenticity to your images. By incorporating personal elements, like traditional pieces or favorite colors, your second maternity session can feel just as magical, yet entirely distinct. Our classic backdrops and artistic lighting give your pregnancy portraits a timeless look that won’t go out of style. Our goal is to make your maternity photoshoot experience as perfect as possible for you and your family.

Working with a Photographer Who Understands Second-Time Moms

Our photographers specialize in capturing heartfelt occasions. At our studio, nearly everyone is a parent, so we totally get how important patience and a kid-friendly environment is. With more than fifteen years of working with moms and children, we’ve become experts in making our maternity sessions both smooth and enjoyable. We move at your kids’ pace to keep things relaxed and fun, so no one gets overwhelmed. Short breaks keep the little ones happy and the shoot flowing smoothly. Bringing favorite toys can also help kids feel right at home. We’re great with all ages – from newborns to big kids. We highlight your unique vibe through a mix of posed shots and natural poses throughout your maternity session. We also focus on real moments, capturing candid photos to give your portraits more meaning. Let us help you create lasting memories that reflect your family’s love.

Creating a Legacy: Why Every Pregnancy Deserves to Be Celebrated

Every child has their own story. By capturing your journey through motherhood, we help honor the most beautiful and meaningful pieces of this stage in your life. From soft kicks to tiny hands to sweet glaces, we’re here to document every moment with you. We focus on documenting not just how you and your baby look, but how you feel. This is your chance to pause and savor this chapter before everything changes again. These photos of you and your family can show your children how deeply they were loved from the start. Maternity Photography is a gift for both you and your children, preserving memories of love, connection, and growth that will be treasured for years to come.

Adding A Personal Touch to your Maternity Photos

Adding Personal Touches: Your NYC Pregnancy Photography

Your maternity photoshoot is a big deal. From the moment you wake up to the moment you step off the set, you want every little detail perfected. While we can assure you of a stunning pregnancy photography experience, a big question remains.

How can I be sure that my NYC maternity photoshoot captures my personality? What extra things can I do to make my prenatal portraits feel more personalized?

Here, we diving into the top ways to add personalized touches to your photoshoot. We want to maintain comfort and safety for our moms-to-be without neglecting style and vibes. Here are a few things you can mention to your photographer in and out of an NYC photo studio.

Picking the Perfect Outfit For Your NYC Maternity Portraits

Being Comfortable and Stylish

Comfort is essential when planning your photoshoot. You’ll book your maternity photographer further along in your pregnancy for some great baby bump pictures. All this means is you may need to put those heels up.

By no means does that mean you’re sacrificing style. Many NYC maternity photoshoot-appropriate attire options include casual outfits and cultural wear. You can still wear your typical style but with a twist.

Styling the Bump

Mentioning style with a twist, if you are more of a casual dresser, you can always opt for some overalls or fitted jeans with a top. This way, you can show off the bump while maintaining your style in the photo studio.

If you want to be more glamorous, choose flowing fabrics that dress the bump or form-fitting styles. You can then add some extra drama with accessories. PS. Your maternity photographer can even assist with some style tips!

Perfecting Color Palette

Any photographer will agree that classic neutrals offer timeless pregnancy photography. Pastels bring a softer sense to the photoshoot. And, if you want bold prenatal portraits, you can choose a strong color like red to accentuate your feminine strength.

Setting the Mood With Lighting: In Nature Or The Photo Studio

Natural Lighting

A NYC maternity photographer always prefers lighting during the golden hour. This can be around sunrise or sunset when you get a stunning golden glow. This lighting offers an ethereal and soft aesthetic. Your prenatal portraits will have a delicate, feminine feel, while your photographer is there to guide you through perfect poses.

Photo Studio Lighting

Studio lighting is great for moms-to-be who want a more polished, high-fashion, or dramatic feel for their pregnancy photoshoot. Booking an NYC photo studio session doesn’t mean you have to opt for these high-fashion prenatal portraits. Your maternity photographer is there to set the scene for any aesthetic you desire.

Most photo studio lighting was designed to mimic natural lighting. It can even mimic the perfect golden hour setting or overcast vibes to limit harsh or intense shadows. This is great for a photoshoot in the winter, avoiding the summer heat, or rescheduling a shoot due to weather.

Creative Options

Another perk of photo studio pregnancy photography is all the lighting tricks your maternity photography can do. Lighting gels cast different hues, making for some great gender reveal shots or a fresh take on classic pregnancy photography.

Enhancing Your Beauty With Makeup

Tailoring Your Look for Pregnancy Photography

Makeup isn’t about hiding—it’s about honing in on a specific look. Whether it’s a soft, rosy blush or a defined contour, makeup can help give your prenatal portraits a defined vibe.

Highlighting Your Features

Whether you hire an NYC makeup artist for the photo studio or do your makeup yourself, all maternity photographers suggest a dewy makeup look. Some extra highlights and soft foundations will emphasize your radiance.

Hair Styling for Prenatal Portraits

Hair styling is a huge personal touch for a maternity photoshoot. Your hair can say much about you. Whether you want a posh, slicked-back look or big bouncing curls. It also lets a bit of your personality shine through. Trust us, go all out and look your best! These are photos you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Accessories That Add Personal Touches

Jewelry for Pregnancy Photography

Jewelry is a great way to add some personal touches to your pregnancy photography. Minimalist options photograph perfectly. They add a touch of shimmer without being overly distracting.

Sentimental Items

Grab those ultrasound pictures! This is the best opportunity to incorporate any small items that bring you a sense of joy around your baby. You can bring in the first teddy bear you purchased or some tiny baby shoes.

You can even incorporate family heirlooms or a special knitted blanket. Little items like this can really personalize your maternity photoshoot.

Prenatal Portraits Props

Some of our favorite props are flower crowns, bouquets, plush blankets, and stuffed animals. If you’re planning a spring or summer photoshoot, opt for extra florals that add a personal touch. You can even choose the baby’s birth flower for added symbolism.

Partner and Family Involvement

Nothing personalizes pregnancy photography more than having your partner there with you. After all, your love is what is bringing this new light into your lives. This is also a great opportunity for any siblings to be involved in welcoming the new arrival.

Although this is your maternity photoshoot, grabbing extra photographs in the photo studio with your loved ones can bring the whole experience full circle. You can proudly display these in your NYC home and showcase how much love radiates from the inside.

Conclusion

Talk with your maternity photographer about all the ways you want to add special touches and personalizations. These pregnancy photographs are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and an extra special bonding moment with you and your growing baby.

Newborn Photography: Studio or In-Home?

Your baby’s birthday has finally arrived, and you wish you could freeze this moment forever. That’s where NYC newborn photography comes in. It’s all about capturing these little details. From tiny tufts of baby hair, to the adorable toes. A newborn photographer can capture it all, for you to cherish for a lifetime.

This article discusses the differences between in-home and in-studio newborn photography. Which option is the best fit for you? We will look at what the pros have to say. Hopefully, you can get some of those questions answered today!

A mother, her daughter, and her infant baby pose for a family portrait at a newborn photo studio. They're dressed in neutral tones, with the baby swaddled in a white cotton cloth.

We ask a New York City Photographer

How long do in-home sessions take?

We understand how important these first few weeks are to you. It’s a time to bond with your new bundle of joy. The duration of the photoshoot can run anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. This depends on a number of factors:

– how sleepy your infant is
– how comfortable they are with certain poses
– taking breaks for feeding, diaper changes, etc.

What is the typical style of in-home newborn photos?

We use a neutral palette of blankets and props for a simple yet classic look. We like to start the session with solo portraits of the baby. Our goal is to capture all those precious details first. The second half of the session is reserved for Mommy and Daddy photos along with their baby. This yields a good variety of photos for you to choose from.

Do you have to rely on natural lighting alone?

Natural lighting can be unpredictable, and varies in intensity. We use professional studio lighting. We bring along a portable flash unit and a large umbrella. Our flash is safe to use on babies due to its extremely short duration (1/5000 of a second).

What spaces in my home will you need to utilize?

We set our blankets and shooting area on top of your bed. We use waterproof liners to protect your sheets. For your family portraits, we generally shoot in front of a blank piece of wall. This gives us a simple backdrop that won’t distract from you or your baby.

Will you provide props and outfits?

We provide freshly laundered blankets. Accessories such as wraps, headbands, hats, and bonnets are also available. You can always incorporate personal items, but we provide handcrafted items that keep the aesthetic of newborn photography clean and simple.

Remember that clothes add a bulky effect and distract from your baby’s petite figure. Babies will always photograph better when naked or wrapped in lightweight fabrics.

How far in advance do I need to book for an in-home session?

As one of the most sought-after newborn photography studios in NYC, we are generally booked months in advance. We strongly urge you to book a newborn retainer. This will secure a spot on our calendar. Once your baby is born, you’ll reach out to us to schedule the actual date and time.

Benefits of In-Home Newborn Photography

Comfort

The best time for a newborn photoshoot is within the first two weeks after your baby arrives. This can be a healing time for new moms. Staying at home can make things much more comfortable, compared to traveling. Some parents are also hesitant about taking their newborn baby out of the house during the first few weeks. Having a photographer come to your home offers the added safety net that many new parents seek.

Adding Personal Touches

Taking advantage of in-home photography offers you the option of adding personal touches. Special baby blankets, stuffed toys, and bassinets can all be used as props. Some apartments offer stunning views of NYC, which can also be incorporated as a backdrop.

Times and Schedules

An infant comes with a lot of responsibility. Running out the door to a photoshoot can be more challenging for a family of three or more. Last-minute diaper changes, feedings, and outfit changes. The unknowns are abundant and can cause extra stress that mom and baby don’t need.

Lifestyle Photography Opportunity

Lifestyle photography captures authentic, candid moments. Little yawns, tiny stretches, and family moments. There is more opportunity to capture these in your home as opposed to a studio.

Professional New York City Photographer

You don’t need to come into a photo studio to get the best lighting, props, and gear. When you hire a well-versed NYC newborn photographer, you create a mini studio in your home. Your newborn photographer arrives with a suitcase packed with:

– professional lighting
– portable heater to keep your infant nice and warm
– sound machine to help them sleep and keep them calm
– a variety of blankets, props, and other accessories

Your photographer has been trained to carefully pose your baby in a safe manner. We listen to their body language for any signs of discomfort, and use poses approved by APNPI (Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International).

Let a New York City Photographer Answer—All About In-Studio Infant Photography

What is your studio environment like?

We assure you that our studio is designed around the comfort of our tiniest clients, as well as their parents. The studio is kept warm throughout the session. You’ll be right there, in the middle of it all to soak up all the cuteness, every step of the way.

Are we responsible for backdrops and props?

You are only responsible for getting to the studio—we will handle the rest! We have the perfect lighting, props, backdrops, and accessories for your baby. Refreshments and snacks are offered as courtesy to parents while we photograph your newborn.

Are there any specific outfit colors or props you recommend?

We have everything you need at the studio! You’re more than welcome to bring any personalized items or family heirlooms you’d like included in your portraits.

Do in-studio sessions cost more in NYC?

Our package prices do not vary. We do not want price to be a determining factor during this delicate time.

Controlled Environment

One advantage of planning an in-studio newborn photoshoot is the option of being in a controlled environment. If you limited space in your apartment, or loud pets, these factors can be detrimental to our efforts.  Before your arrival at our studio, everything is washed and sanitized. This way, when you arrive at our studio, we’ll have everything ready.

Variety

In-studio newborn photography offers you the benefit of more backdrops and props. Your photographer has a plethora of items that will assist in capturing the best shots. This reduces downtime between shots, helping to keep your baby happy and fuss-free.

Better Focus

When scheduling an in-studio photoshoot, you’re entering the photographer’s domain. This is where the photographer is most comfortable and has fewer variables to worry about. There are also no outside distractions like other children or pets.

Factors to Consider When Choosing Between In-Home and Studio Photography in New York City

Comfort Levels

All new parents have their comfort levels, and there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach to infant photography. Some couples may find it easier and more practical to leave the house, get the session done, and then go home.

In-home sessions might be the best choice if you prefer having all your home comforts readily available. It makes handling outfit changes, diaper changes, and any unexpected spit-ups much easier. Ultimately, this is a personal choice, so pick the option that makes you feel most comfortable.

Photography Style

In-studio photo sessions offer a more artistic and stylized approach, while in-home sessions capture a more natural lifestyle feel. The choice between the two depends on the look and style you’d like for your baby’s professional photos.

Consulting With Your Photographer

If you are stuck on a decision or still need to make one, consult with the photographer! They are there to listen. They can answer any questions and help guide you to whether an in-home or in-studio session would best fit your needs.

Newborn photographers have a lot of experience. They can recommend ways to get the pictures YOU want – accomplished. Together, you can devise a plan that keeps everyone comfortable and stress-free, while capturing those timeless newborn shots.

Wrapping Up: NYC In-Home or In-Studio Newborn Photography

Newborn photography isn’t a one-size-fits-all. It’s all about personal preference and what makes you feel comfortable with your infant. As parents, your comfort should be a top priority during the session. You should always feel confident and comfortable with how your baby is handled, especially during this fragile time.

All You Need To Know About Maternity Photography In 2025

Congratulations on your pregnancy! This is such an amazing and memorable time in your life, and what better way to preserve it than through maternity photography! We encourage you to capture these fleeting moments of beauty and femininity.

In this article, we’ll explore the world of maternity photography and see how it has evolved over the years. We’ll discuss the latest trends and share tips on making your New York City photoshoot magical and memorable. Use this as a guide in helping you choose the perfect photographer, and learn about the benefits that only a professional photo studio can offer.

The State Of Maternity Photography in 2025

Like all trends, what was once popular a few years back is no longer trendy, and something new has taken over. When it comes to pregnancy photography in 2025, we are seeing a more casual approach in fashion choices and a lot more lifestyle concepts.

Ethereal themes are another up-and-coming style in pregnancy photoshoots. This includes loose, flowing dresses, beautifully handcrafted flower crowns, and abstract backdrops.

Another popular choice amongst prenatal clients is their preference of studio sessions over outdoor environments. When compared to outdoor settings, photo studios offer a number of benefits. As one of the most celebrated New York City photographers, our space is climate-controlled, offering an escape from the hot-and-humid streets of Manhattan. This allows us to have full control over your appearance and comfort.

Current Maternity Trends

Breathtaking Studio Locations
Don’t live in or around NYC? Many of our clients make it a destination instead! What better way to pamper yourself than a weekend trip to the greatest city in the world. And while you’re here, make it a date night as well. Comedy clubs, Broadway shows, and some of the finest dining will make for a perfect evening on the town.

Our photo studio offers a warm and inviting reception area. Let your partner relax while you get your hair and make-up done in our dedicated beauty station! With a broad assortment of garments, and accessories like hats and jewelry to choose from, we’ll make sure your photos embody your vision and your style.

You can choose casual outfits that match your spouse and children, or find form-fitting attire to show off those stunning curves. As for hair and makeup, you’ll see a lot of simpler looks that maintain natural beauty. This is the perfect time to flaunt the trendy unbuttoned jeans and white bralette to show that perfectly rounded baby bump!

Silhouettes
Silhouettes emphasize the shape of your body. Pregnancy changes you in incredible ways, and this is your chance to show off every soft curve and womanly feature. These photos celebrate the beauty and strength of your pregnant body, capturing a moment you’ll want to remember forever.
Silhouette lighting favors loose, draping fabrics or snug, fitted outfits. Many of these photos are beautifully edited into black and white, but you can go in any direction to match your style and personality.

Choosing The Right New York City Maternity Photographer

Choosing the right professional for the job may seem like a challenging task. However, by asking yourself a few questions and doing some research, you can make an informed decision that isn’t solely based on pricing.

Budget
Determine your budget early on and do your research when it comes to any New York City photographer. Determine the value you get by asking them the following questions:
Do you have a dedicate indoor studio space?
If you only shoot outdoors, how do you deal with wind, heat and humidity?
How do you accommodate make-up and wardrobe changes when shooting outdoors?
How many years of experience do you have?
May I see a sample gallery from a single photo session?

That last question is especially important. While a photographer’s portfolio will features their best work, getting a peek at a sample session will let you get a better sense of what you can expect from your own photo session.

Style
All professional New York City photographers will have a portfolio showcase. This can be a website, or just an Instagram page. Here is where you can gauge their style of photography. A photographer cannot change their style to fit your needs, so be sure that who you choose has the aesthetic you desire for your pregnancy photos.

A professional photo of a pregnant woman wearing a long flowing fabric while sitting on a chair. The photo is tastefully lit by a maternity photographer.

Studio Location
If you want your pregnancy shoot to occur in a studio setting, we recommend you opt for a photographer who has one. These photographers have the lighting, wind machines, wardrobes, and make-up tables to accommodate your every need. The final product is a polished work of art worth hanging on the wall.

The Benefits of a Studio Location
Studio locations come with some amazing benefits. Not only is the photographer comfortable with their setting, but you will also enjoy an air-conditioned environment, with plenty of places to sit and rest when needed. Many studios will additionally have a team of make-up artists and hair-stylists to ensure no detail goes overlooked.

Some photo studios even have their own beauty team on standby, ready to doll you up and offer the most beautiful pregnancy shots. This allows you to embrace your femininity, hold an award-winning photography session, and ultimately end up with photos you will cherish forever.

The Importance Of Reviews
Everyone values someone’s opinion when it comes to a professional service. It’s the easiest way to see if this photographer is worth the time and money. But what exactly do you look for when scrolling through reviews?

It’s a good idea to read the subject of each review. If the subject focuses on headshot photography, the photographer may not have the skills needed for pregnancy photoshoots. It’s essential to choose a photographer who has experience and a solid track record in the type of photography you seek.

Choose Experience
When searching for a professional prenatal photographer, you’ll want to pay attention to how far back their reviews go. Photographing a pregnant body requires an uncanny attention to details. The artist must have full command of lighting modifiers in order to properly illuminate the parts of their subject that matter most.

Lighting, angles, and poses make all the difference, and recognizing this shows you’re dealing with a skilled photographer. To ensure they have the right experience, take a deep dive into their reviews and see how far back they go. This will help you determine whether the photographer is a seasoned veteran, or a beginner exploring a new niche.

The Importance of a Maternity Portfolio

A tell-tale sign you have found a professional maternity photographer is when they have full-session pregnancy shoots included within their portfolio. Not only can you see if their photography skills are up to par, but you can determine if their style aligns with your aesthetic.

Most professionals will put their best foot forward and show the most stunning photographs to highlight their trade. By looking at individual photo sessions, you can get a better grasp of their consistency, so don’t be afraid to ask!

Making The Day Special and One to Remember

Now that your photos have been taken, and your hair and makeup professionally done, it’s time for a night out! After your maternity photoshoot, take some time to explore the city! Hit up your favorite restaurant, or catch that show you and your partner have been wanting to see. This is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the day, and make it one to remember.

Once your baby comes, it may be challenging to find a way to plan those oh-so-important date nights with your spouse. So take this time and treat yourself.

It’s also a wonderful opportunity to embrace these last moments of pregnancy and the final moments of being just a couple, as in a short time, you’ll be welcoming your new baby into the world.

Wrapping Up All You Need to Know About Maternity Photography

Maternity photography in 2025 is all about studio locations, casual to form-fitting clothing, and natural, lightly styled hair and makeup. You can also take on a more everyday feel with hand-crafted flower crowns and long, flowing dresses and skirts.

Be sure to read through their reviews carefully, and look at full-session samples. Find a photographer who can capture the style you are looking for.
